Day 2 of Sailing at BTR

Posted: 25/6/2022

What a difference a day makes! No problem getting the fleet underway yesterday morning in a brisk warm southerly. Conditions epitomized the reason why Belfast Lough has the reputation of being one of the finest locations for on the water competition in Ireland especially when the wind is in the south.

Local knowledge favoured RUYC/RNIYC Member John Minnis in the Archambault 35 Final Call II, who topped the class 2 fleet in both races. However, Pat Kelly in Storm from Howth YC was hot on his heels and, as the Class 2 results are coming in, there appearers to be a mighty tussle between Final Call II, Storm, Animal and Game Changer.

Similar conditions today, maybe a little stronger, gusty on Sunday which has unfortunately resulted in the RNIYC Fairy Class withdrawing.

You can read a more comprehensive account result of the results by Betty Armstrong in afloat.ie.
